[APH Nordics] Sleep my young love by Enbi-to-Miruku [APH Nordics] Sleep my young love by Enbi-to-Miruku
DISCLAIMER: I am well aware of the timeline inaccuracy of this artwork. This is set in 1814, while the famous Icelandic lullaby (of which I used the lyrics) was written in 1911. Please do not comment about this inaccuracy, because I've already known it.

---

"On January 7, 1814, [...] King Frederick VI of Denmark agreed to cede Norway to the king of Sweden in order to avoid an occupation of Jutland. These terms were formalized and signed at the Treaty of Kiel on January 14, in which Denmark negotiated to maintain sovereignty over the Norwegian possessions of Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and Iceland."

.::~*~::.

I'm so sorry, I drew angst.

At least it's historical.

Anyway, I feel somewhat guilty for being too obsessed with DenNor these days - I didn't even like it, originally (now I do, don't worry). I decided to go with some brotherly and emotional NorIce, to make up for my laziness over my doujinshi back in July 2013.

Now, lullabies have always fascinated me. Especially mysterious and creepy ones. I recommend you to listen to this song, Sofðu unga ástin mín (Sleep my young love), Sung by Sissel Kyrkjebø. You can read more about the lullaby here.

I've modified a lyrics a tiny bit to fit.

Headcanon: Norway used to sings lullabies in both Norwegian and Icelandic, and whenever young Iceland is particularly upset, Norway would sing only in Icelandic. Because he knew Iceland liked that (though he'd never admit, even til now). Nowadays Norway sometimes sings in Icelandic mostly to tease his little brother - Iceland is only half annoyed, actually.

REBLOG here if you will.

Axis Powers Hetalia and all its characters belong to Himaruya Hidekaz.
Sofðu unga ástin mín was written by Jóhann Sigurjónsson. The translation I used belong to Otakuso
The artwork belongs to me.

Wow.  I've never heard of that lullaby, but the translation is so beautifully poetic.

Well, the translation is written by Otakuso, I only modified the lyrics a tiny bit to fit with the brothers ^^

And I recommend listening to the lullaby, because it is hauntingly beautiful.

MY FEELS! :iconsoemotionalplz:
This is so sad but it's very great! I love the history of Scandinavia so much-- they're so interesting! And I was really disappointed to my Social Studies teacher because she didn't include their history to her topics... TT3TT
